Arizona-specific compliance guidance from Managing Broker John Patrick Mijac, 1912 Realty Tucson
TL;DR:
Your first day at a new brokerage must be 100% compliant. That means updating your email signature,
social media, websites, ads, open house materials, business cards, CRM, MLS profiles, forms, and every single place
where the public could believe you are practicing real estate. Nothing referencing your old brokerage may remain active,
and you may not hold open houses or promote listings belonging to your former firm.
Why Day-One Compliance Matters
In Arizona, the moment you switch brokerages, all advertising and public-facing material must
reflect your current licensed brokerage—without exception. That includes your social media,
website, business cards, CRM, video descriptions, signs, ads, and even your voicemail.
Arizona law is very clear: any misleading or confusing advertising can trigger an
ADRE investigation. Following this checklist protects your reputation, your license,
and your clients.
1. Business Cards, Email, and Printed Materials
Arizona requires your legal first and last name and your new brokerage name to appear
in all marketing “in a clear and prominent manner.” Update immediately:
- Email signature (legal name, new brokerage, phone, address, website)
- Email templates
- Business cards
- Letterhead, flyers, listing/buyer packets
- PDFs and documents with old brokerage branding
Forbidden: No materials displaying your old brokerage may be used after the moment you move.
2. Website & Landing Pages
Every page where a consumer might believe you practice real estate must be updated:
- Your personal website (bio, footer, contact page, About pages)
- Agent pages hosted by your old brokerage
- IDX pages
- Embedded forms, popups, Calendly links
- Tracking pixels that point to old brokerage URLs
Remove old brokerage logos, colors, disclaimers, and hidden metadata.
3. Social Media Profiles (Every Platform Must Be Updated)
Social media is legally advertising. Everything must be updated same-day:
Facebook
- “Works at…” field
- Business Page name & About section
- Cover photo, logo, transparency info
Instagram
- Bio (“REALTOR® at…”, brokerage)
- Link in bio
- Story Highlights with old branding removed
LinkedIn
- Current role
- Banner image
- Experience history
YouTube
- Channel description
- Video descriptions
- Contact panel
- Channel art
Google Business Profile
- Description
- Company field
- Website link
Real Estate Portals
- Zillow / Trulia
- Realtor.com
- Homes.com
- Redfin Partner Agent (if applicable)
Forbidden: No posts or stories promoting listings belonging to your old brokerage.
4. Ad Accounts & Paid Media
Paid ads are legally considered advertising and must be updated immediately:
- Facebook Ads Manager (Page assignment + URL)
- Instagram promotions
- Google Ads (display URLs, tracking templates, extensions)
- Retargeting lists linked to old brokerage sites
Forbidden: Running ads with old brokerage logos or landing pages.
5. Yard Signs, Lockboxes, and Open House Materials
- Replace yard signs immediately
- Change riders
- Reassign lockboxes in MLS (Flex/MLSSAZ)
- Update open house signs
Forbidden: No open houses under the old brokerage.
No signage with old branding may be displayed anywhere.
6. Transaction Materials & Templates
Update any documents with brokerage identifiers:
- Buyer packets
- Seller packets
- Net sheets
- Inspection guides
- PDF templates
- Digital branding in handouts or guides
7. CRM, Automated Messages, and Drip Campaigns
- Update all templates (email + SMS)
- Update drips with new brokerage name
- Correct sender name fields
- Fix automated follow-up messages
- Replace PDF attachments with new-branded versions
Forbidden: Any automation referencing the old brokerage.
8. Professional Registrations
Day-One updates include:
- MLSSAZ profile
- NAR and AAR profiles
- Supra eKey office affiliation
- Skyslope / Dotloop / TransactionDesk templates
- eSign platforms (DocuSign, Authentisign)
9. Personal Contact Channels
- Voicemail greeting
- Text/iMessage signature
- vCard / digital business card
- Calendly
- Zoom profile
- Any QR codes linking to old-brokerage pages
10. Three Hard “Do Not Do This” Rules
- Do NOT hold open houses for listings still owned by your old brokerage
- Do NOT tell clients you represent them without executed paperwork and broker approval
- Do NOT use any marketing materials with old brokerage branding
